The Víknaslóðir trails, also known as Trails of the Inlets, form an extensive network of well-marked hiking routes stretching from Borgarfjörður Eystri village to Loðmundarfjörður. Over the years, locals have meticulously maintained numerous trails, earning the area the title of a hiker’s paradise. Additionally, they provide a top-notch hiking map and operate cozy hiking lodges in Breiðavík, Húsavík, and Loðmundarfjörður, nestled in the deserted inlets and fjords south of Borgarfjörður Eystri.
The landscape boasts diverse mountain formations and a stunning array of colors, ranging from the black sand beaches to the pinkish-orange tones of mountain ridges. Trails meander through secluded coves, fjords, vibrant hills, and verdant valleys, eventually leading to the coastline. Abandoned homes and remnants of ancient farms add a historical charm to the surroundings.

Day 1: Pick up from Egilsstaðir. Hike to Stórurð on the way to Borgarfjörður Eystri.
Day 2: Borgarfjörður Eystri – Breiðuvík
Day 3: Breiðuvík – Húsavík
Day 4: Húsavík – Loðmundarfjörður
Day 5: Loðmundarfjörður – Seyðisfjörður. Transfer back to Egilsstaðir.
