Originally from Njarvk in southwest Iceland, Fririk first fell in love with the Eastfjords in 2009 when he bought Hotel Blfell in the tiny town of Breidalsvk and moved his family to Icelands 'Far East.' He has since developed the local tourism infrastructure there and continues his labor of love at Travel East Iceland. With over twenty years experience working in Icelands travel industry, Fririk envisions the potential of East Iceland as a destination for visitors seeking off-the-beaten-path experiences in unspoiled nature. Fririk is the companys Snapchat expert and even went so far as to establish a geo-filter for the town of Breidalsvk, population 139.

With over 25 years' experience working in Icelands tourism industry, Birna is highly regarded by her peers as an industry thought leader. Birna joined the Travel East Iceland team in 2016 and has worked in management positions for Icelands most prominent travel companies, airlines, and tour operators. She is well known for being a one-woman powerhouse who achieves ambitious objectives including the launch of the worlds first carbon-free whale watching ship. Birna is very passionate about her home town of Akureyri and is our resident North Iceland specialist. She is an amateur photographer with the eye of a professional. Many of her images can be seen throughout the Travel East Iceland website.

Name: Skli Jlusson | Position: Mountain guide.
Languages: Icelandic and English.
Courses: Wilderness First Responder, Hard Ice level 1, Alpine level 1.

Skli has lived in Egilsstair for 29 years. He started very young to climb mountains and do other outdoor activities with his family and has always been close to nature. Skli has worked as a mountain guide for 7 years and climbed hundreds of mountains all over Iceland. His favorite mountain is the "king" of Icelandic mountains, Snfell. Skli has four kids who are all future mountain guides.





Name: skar Inglfsson|Position: Mountain guide.
Languages: Icelandic and English.
Courses: Wilderness first responder, Hard Ice level 1 and 2, Alpine level 1 and Rope Rescue Technician 3.

skar was born and raised in Akureyri. As a kid he went to a farm every summer at Meiavellir. His prime interest is being up in the mountains ether hunting, snowmobiling, motorcycling, on a super jeep, skiing or just walking even biking. Hes an adventure seeking guy.
Hes skied many mountains both here in Iceland and other countries. He was the first (so we know) to ski down Dyrfjll. Hes also skied Mt. Snfell, Eyjafjallajkul, Snfellsjkul, Heklu and many more.





Name: Helga Hrnn Melste | Position: Driver guide.
Languages: Icelandic and English.

Courses: Wilderness First Responder.

Helga is born and raised in Breidalsvk. She works as a turner and EMT as well as a Super Jeep Guide. She has worked with the local voluntary Search and Rescue team for the last 20 years. She's passionate about traveling and photography as well as nature and wildlife.



Name: Inglfur Finnsson | Position: Driver guide.
Languages: Icelandic and English.
Courses: Wilderness First Responder.

Inglfurhas lived in Breidalsvk for the last 30 years. He works as a car mechanic and EMT as well as s Super Jeep Guide. He has worked with the voluntary Search and Rescue team for the last 27 years. He has a keen interest in traveling as well as winter travel such as snowmobiling and super jeep rides in snow.


Name: skar r Gumundsson | Position: Driver guide.
Languages: Icelandic and English.

skar is born and raised in Fskrsfjrur where he lives. He works as a policeinspector as well as a Super Jeep Guide. He has extensive experience in mountain travels and has worked with thevoluntary Search and Rescue team since he was a teenager.




Name: Hrefna I. Melste | Position: Driver guide.
Languages: Icelandic, English and Spanish.

Hrefna is born and raised in Breidalsvkand has worked within the tourism sector alongside her studies and recently finished a BA degree in anthropology. She is interested in traveling, photography and the outdoors as well as volunteeringwith the local Search and Rescue team.
